Squires Loft, South Yarra
Published 1 year, 3 months ago in Eat & Drink.Went out for dinner for our second wedding anniversary this week - had steak at Squires Loft in South Yarra.
Service was excellent, unobtrusive. Had a lovely glass of Shiraz to go with my porterhouse. Hubby got the rib-eye. Steak was done perfectly and tasted fabulous. I also ordered the chargrilled veggies, the mushrooms were to die for! I don’t know what they baste them with, but it was fantastic!
You’ll not come out of Squires Loft spending less than around $35 per person - the steak comes with chips or baked potato - anything else is extra, including veggies, sauces (green peppercorn is great) etc. Between the two of us we spent just under $80, which when you consider we only had mains…
We decided against having dessert at Squires Loft - nothing against the place or the menu (the chocolate cake was very appealing), but we were so full from our steak that we needed a significant amount of time before we would be ready for anything sweet, so we opted to drive to Eastland to have Crepe Suzette at Eastland.
Turns out they have a chef they call in for the Crepe Suzette, so while we had to wait a little while for our dessert (no biggie because we were still waiting for the steak to settle!), the dessert was fantastic when we got it.
After all that fabulous food we almost had to roll home!

Hi ‘gomo’ if you like spicy food done by an expert chef from India, try Curry Leaf Cafe on Brighton Rd Elwood. Excellent cooking, great food, very well presented and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
sounds like a great night out! many a time I have vowed to return somewhere that left me stuffed from a delicious first course and next time have only cake and coffee. like the idea of the progressive dinner though - very 70s!
